When Paper is Stronger Than wood

Yet another episode of Easy Science. In this episode I show how a sheet of newspaper can be stronger than a wooden stick.
The ambient air pressure pushing down on the paper is about 15 lbs per square inch, so with the news paper unfolded translates to about 2 tons of resistance to sudden upward movement, which is more than enough to break a wooden stir stick.
